Thomas Grocere
Persona
Thomas Grocere (sometimes misspelled Grozier) is an upper middle class merchant of the late 14th, early 15th century England who has somehow found his way to Ealdormere. He is an alderman of the City of Eoforwic, having served a term as its mayor. Any resemblance he bears to Thomas the Pardoner is, of course, purely coincidental. Also coincidental is the fact that both Thomas Grocere and Thomas the Pardoner are partial to pilgrimages, having been to Canterbury, Rome, Jerusalem, and Santiago de Compostela (the latter several times).
Whereabouts
Thomas currently resides on the borderlands between the City of Eoforwic and the Canton of Ardchreag and have been known to show up at meetings of both cantons.

SCA History
Thomas started in the SCA as Æðelwold (AEthelwold) Mierca in the Canton of Eoforwic, then in the Middle Kingdom. About two years in he became seneschal of the Canton and served for a couple of years around the time of its tenth anniversary. AEthelwold was also the canton chronicler for a while. He autocratted the Eoforwic Hundred Years War event and was feast steward for several others (some more successfully, some less). AEthelwold set off on a quest to find Prester John, rumoured to rule in Africa or Asia but, after crossing the Sahara in Africa, was lost somewhere in Niger. Only his identical twin brother brother AEthelstan returned. AEthelstan hung around Eoforwic for a few years but after that was seldom seen. In his absence, the merchant Thomas appeared and the less reputable Thomas the Pardoner soon afterwards. He swore personal fealty to Aedan O Kincorra and Caffa Muirath as individuals, rather than as Baron and Baroness. Thomas was apprenticed to Master Robert of Two Cliffs, and was invited to join Leonet's household, a cadet branch of House De Taahe.
Thomas was very active from about 1982 unto the early to mid-90s, and then disappeared until about 2003 when he came back for a few years with his wife and children. He then disappeared a second time for fifteen or twenty years until returning in 2023.
Interests
Thomas' primary interests are Calligraphy, Illumination, and medieval culinary research (with a focus on Western Europe, pre-1500. He has been known to try his hand at other arts and sciences.
