Genevieve la flechiere de Duram
Persona
Viscountess Genevieve la flechiere de Duram (she/her) is originally a 12th-century resident of Durham in the northeast of what is now England, when Durham Cathedral was begun.
This persona started out of an enthusiasm for the Brother Cadfael mysteries: the first historical fiction whodunnits she ever read, starting in high school.
Genevieve now has a great love of 15th- and 16th-century English culture, because Middle and early modern English and French are more accessible than Latin. Also: accessible documented dance music, lyrics, recipes and personal letters.
Whereabouts
Genevieve currently resides in the Canton of Bryniau Tywynnog, in the Barony of Ramshaven.

SCA History
Genevieve joined the Society when a lovely group of folks started shooting regularly at her university archery club with bare bows and wooden arrows. They were creative, thoughtful, geeky, and keen Star Trek fans.
Eventually she asked why one of the regulars seemed to answer to two different names. Things escalated rapidly from there.
The combination of warmth, friendliness, good humour, creativity and Making Stuff Together™ has kept Genevieve involved ever since.
She attended her first event at Ice Dragon (in the East Kingdom) during the reign of Michel Darke and Keillyn, Prince and Princess of Ealdormere, and of David and Tangwystyl King and Queen of the Midrealm.
Genevieve started in the then-incipient canton of Greyfells, in the Althing, and lived several years in Caldrithig. In the barony of the Althing she learned to love running events like Feast of the Hare, and kept at event stewarding when she eventually moved to Drachenwald.
She then travelled to Drachenwald, and played in the Principality of Insulae Draconis (aka UK, Republic of Ireland, and Iceland).
She hosted the 2008 KWHSS in London England by inviting the Society College of Arms to visit the College of Arms. It was a very memorable event all round.
In 2010 she and Master Robert de Canterbury were the 4th Prince and Princess of Insulae Draconis. Their main achievement was to feast, dance, and submit cool badges for future Principality royals.
In 2013 she stewarded a splendid fall Drachenwald Crown tourney at Caerphilly Castle, in Wales.
She spent the years between 2006-2019 supporting the coolest event in Drachenwald, Raglan ffair, a 10-day camping event at the foot of a Welsh castle.
As a companion of the Pelican by the hand of Aryanhwy and Paul, of blessed memory, she is part of the Line of Brand.
In Ealdormere, she counts Arcill Bìodach as her dependent and marasglaiche of the greater house of Sylveaston. The rest of the household members live in Insulae Draconis:

Currently, Genevieve is focused on fencing, and supporting the Ealdormere Academy of Defense. She delights in calligraphy, with just enough illumination to fill in the gaps around the words, and loves creating great scroll texts that suit the recipient.
She enjoys doing court, and making moments special for others through great ceremonies.
Over time she's tried a lot of arts and sciences, but keeps coming back to sewing and calligraphy.

Other Activities
Outside of the Society, Genevieve likes to knit in front of the TV and still loves whodunnits and historical fiction.
