The word mundane is used by SCAdians to refer to anything pertaining to life outside of SCA activities.

Examples:

• Mundane Name is the given, legal name of a SCAdian
• Mundane Job is what a SCAdian does on a daily basis to earn a living
• Mundane clothing is regular clothing, as opposed to garb, the medieval clothing we wear. Being in mundane clothes at an SCA event is gently mocked as being in “Munderwear”.

In the SCA, many unavoidable mundane intrusions are given euphemistic names to try and limit their effect on the verisimilitude of the game. For example, a vehicle (whether a car or a plane) is called a “Dragon”, a port-a-potty refereed to as a “Port-a-Castle”, etc.
