Sadb ingen Uí Fhaoladh
Persona
As Sadb's surname suggests, she might be a bit of a shapeshifter. She can usually be found around 10th century Ireland, sometimes as a Norse-Gael living in Dyflin around the 10th century and at other times as a Munster-born woman who may be a bean feasa or might just be an innkeeper. Sometimes she manages to jump centuries and masquerades as later-period nobility, but she struggles to maintain this persona for very long. Whatever the period or venue, you can probably find her dancing.
Irish Pronunciation Key: Sadb is pronounced “Sive” (saɪv) which rhymes with “drive.” If you want to be extra-period-appropriate, say it more like “scythe.”
ingen according to SCA tradition is prounced EEN-yen (EEN is pronounced like the English word “in” but with a longer “ee” sound followed by the English word “yen.)
Uí Fhaoladh is pronounced o-AAA-luh. Yes, Irish is weird. (To be more specific, the lenition in female surnames renders the “Fh” silent. A pronunciation of “aoladh” in Munster dialect can be found here: https://www.teanglann.ie/en/fuaim/aoladh)
