Cainder ingen hui Chatharnaig
Persona
The Honorable Lady Cainder ingen hui Chatharnaig (she/her) is a young woman being brought up by her Grandfather and the community of a small village just outside of Armagh, Ireland in the 1100's. She's had the freedom to sneak into many a scriptorium where she's picked up a few bad habits like reading to excess, painting and a little calligraphy. She's also spent an excessive amount of time following around the local Brehon like a lost puppy and has picked up a wee bit of Irish law, history, bardic and heraldry. Being the only female in the family, she's had to learn how to sew and such pretty much on her own and can make a passable bit of garb for herself and her family.
Alternate Persona
Isemay de Bayonne is a strong young woman brought up in a coastal port town in the mid 1400's. She was encouraged to marry a privateer, Mateo de Merida and happily takes the occasional trip with her husband on his ship the Crimson Star with his Company of the Ship and the Star. Together they are raising two daughters and a fosterling son.

SCA History
Cainder first discovered the SCA via the internet in the spring of 1994, where she made contact with folks in “Wessex Mere”, in the Middle Kingdom and began to play, make garb and accessories. She moved to Thunder Bay for University in September, where she joined the Shire of Mare Amethystinum, and became an active member.
Cainder's first event was in the fall of 1995, when she attended Kingdom Arts & Sciences hosted by the Shire of Mare Amethystinum for the Middle Kingdom. She took two classes on C&I and was hooked.
In January 1996 she donated her first scroll to the Signet of the Middle Kingdom. For the next four years she averaged around five or six scrolls per reign.
Cainder began her long career as a Chronicler when she designed and distributed the Shire of Mare Amethystinum's monthly newsletter in 1997, with a distribution of about 40-50 copies. she maintained the office of Chronicler for the shire off and on for the remaining four years that she dwelt in the north. During her time in the north (around 1999) she also worked with other Shire members to create large numbers of tabards, pennants, and banners for those bound to the Pennsic War. Song was a strong and recurring theme throughout her involvement in the SCA. Collecting lyrics at events and practices and sponsoring bardic activities were important activities.
In the autumn of 2000, Lady Cainder moved back to Southern Ontario (specifically London), taking two years to settle in and reintegrate with the local group, the Shire of Trinovantia Nova. She began attending local meetings in 2001, and by 2003 she had taken on the role of Chronicler for the Shire of Trinovantia Nova. She also helped with set up and clean up for the Shire's annual event, Winter War; in 2005 she acted as Winter War's Event Stewart, and again in 2006 with Belaye de Merida. In 2008 Cainder was Co-Feast Stewart for Winter War with Luisa Savie, providing a four-remove feast for 80 people. Finally in 2011 she created and maintained Winter War's website.
In May 2004 Cainder accepted the favour of Queen Marion on behalf of the Chroniclers past and present of the Shire of Trinovantia Nova for faithful attention to duty.
Cainder's martial combat activities began in earnest in 2005, when she was authorized in Fencing at Lady Mary. A year later she was authorized as a Fencing Marshal.
Cainder's involvement with the Ealdormere College of Heralds began in 2005, when she started as Seeblatt Herald (at the time doing notifications to clients regarding submission acceptances and returns.) In November she also took over the role of Took over the role of Green Mantle Herald. She eventually retired from the Seeblatt office in March 2009. She began as Inland Seas Herald in 2012 as training to take over the role of Trillium Principal Herald from Mistress Liadin, which she did in March 2013. In March of 2015 the reigns of the Trillium office were handed off to Lord Pelayo as Cainder earned a rest under the more comfortable tabard of the Silver Wolf Herald (the position of immediate past Principal Herald).
Between 2006 and 2008 Cainder was very busy in the Kingdom's A&S community; she taught classes on Heraldry, ran submissions tables, taught beginner illumination, scroll making and the history and recreation styles of medieval manuscripts at FITP, FOOL and other A&S oriented events.
Cainder and Mateo's activities in the SCA have been scaled back for the last 3 or 4 years as they have been expanding their family via domestic adoption X2. Their family is looking forward to coming out to some warm weather day events so the new family members can see what this crazy hobby is all about.
