Royal Ealdormere Moneyers Guild
The Royal Ealdormere Moneyers Guild is a group intended for those gentles (new and seasoned) interested in Medieval moneying and currency. The Guild is designed to help facilitate the exchange of techniques, styles, and coinage finds.
The oath of a Moneyer contains these words, “To what ever lands I roam or Lords I serve my craft goes with me“.
The Charter of the Guild
- We, the Ealdormere Moneyers’ Guild, hereby lay the foundation to develop and cultivate the skills of Medieval Moneying by this faithful concord. We further desire that their founding be so established as to the following:
- Let there be a company of moneyers throughout the Kingdom of Ealdormere, holding to the acceptable customs of their own devising, subject to the laws of Corpora, section XI Policy on Coinage and Currency, and of the laws of the Kingdom of Ealdormere.
- Let all members of the Guild so mark their dies, with either their names or a personalized stamp, that they be known to all. The Guild shall accept as a duty to provide to the Royalty and/or the Landed Nobility of the Kingdom an amount of coin as determined by the Guild.
- Let there be continued instruction from all those of the company to those that would learn the craft.
- Let there be one trusted Minister of the Guild acting as its head to attend to the needs of the Guild and the Crown. The appointment of the Minister of the Guild will be confirmed at the annual meeting of the Guild.
- Let there be a roster maintained, a listing of all members and their marks.
- Let the Guild maintain a museum of coins minted by Members of the Guild.
- The Guild shall hold at least one (1) meeting per annum.
