Origin of the Name
The name “Vest Yorvik” is Old Norse for “West York”, which is what the Canton was originally called.
History
The Canton of Vest Yorvik was founded in A.S. 17 as the Canton of West York; it became Vest Yorvik two years later, in A.S. 19. According to Colyne Stewart's History of Ealdormere, the foundation of Vest Yorvik was a matter of some contention, as it lay between the border of Septentria and Skraeling Althing, which caused then Baroness Enid Aurelia of the Tin Isles to “protest vehemently”. The issue was eventually resolved peaceably, as such things tend to be.
