Territorial Barony

Territorial Baronials are chosen by the Crown to hold a Barony in fief, based on recommendations provided by the populace. They are sometimes referred to as “Landed” Baronials.

They may wear a gold coronet adorned with six spheroids (generally pearls) and the heraldic Arms of their Barony, may style themselves as 'Baron', 'Baroness', or other alternative title from the list of SCA approved titles, and may be addressed as 'Your Excellency' (or equivalent).

In Ealdormere, Territorial Baronials generally hold a tenure between three to five years in length. They swear fealty to the Crown during their Investiture and are the official representatives of the Crown in their Barony and may hold baronial courts.

The Territorial Baronials are delegated by the Crown the authority to create and present awards to members of their Barony and other people. Baronial awards do not convey precedence.

The Territorial Baronials are entitled to use the Arms of their Barony as their personal heraldry while in office.
