A **Protege** is a student in a formal relationship with a member of the [[awards:Order of the Pelican]]. The terms of this relationship is entirely dependent on both the Pelican and the Protege.

Unlike [[scaism:squire|squires]] and [[scaism:apprentice|apprentices]], Proteges' are entirely a Society invention.
