 Born in the Year of Our Lord 1223, Meister Dietrich von Sachsen (he/him) is the third son of a minor nobleman from Laußig, north-east of Leipzig. Realizing that the odds of inheriting enough of his father’s estate to support himself were slim at best, in 1241 Dietrich set north to Prussia to serve as a “guest crusader” with the Teutonic Order in Prussia with little more than a horse, his armour and a stout blade.
