 +===== History =====
 +
 +Established  by Baroness Gillian d'Uriel and Duke Finnvarr de Taahe, Septentria was the original Barony North of the Inland Seas, a fief of the Middle Kingdom. At first, Septentria encompassed all that eventually became the Kingdom of Ealdormere. The Barony of Skraeling Althing first separated from Septentria, followed later by the Barony of Rising Waters (which included the lands which later became the Barony of Ben Dunfirth). Even after the separation of these two splendid Baronies, until the stepping-down of Aedan and Caffa, Septentria was the largest single Barony in the Known World.
 +
 +At the direction of the Imperium, upon the departure of Aedan and Caffa, Septentria was to be split in two. This was to happen during the administration of Cordigan and Diane, whom the Crown had selected to be the founding Baron and Baroness of the Barony of Ramshaven. However, the paperwork to split the Baronies happened more slowly than expected. This meant that Cordigan and Diane were Baron and Baroness of Septentria for many months, which no-one had anticipated. Cord and Diane had no desire to saddle the next Baron and Baroness of Septentria with any new laws, policies or initiatives, so nothing much happened for an extended period. When Ramshaven separated from Septentria, Cord and Diane went with the new Barony, and Ieuen and Adrielle were selected by the Crown to rule over Septentria after consultation with the remaining populace.
 +
 +As the old song says, Septentria is considered "the heart of Ealdormere." In one notable Pennsic battle (of many), the Eastern foe identified the Septentrians fighting for the Middle as the Midrealm's "elite polar bear attack squad."
